Ben and Jess Wood recognized the demand for healthy food with bold flavor. They decided to bring their West Coast influences to the emporium at the University of Rhode Island.
Caliente became an instant success as word spread about its great food and friendly staff. Customers enjoyed seeing their salsa being made fresh, steaks searing on the grill, and colorful vegetables being prepared. At a time when the expectation of fast food is pre-prepared, unhealthy, and bland, Caliente is a welcomed alternative, making everything fresh, healthy and delicious.
